On Sunday, April 9, the 42nd Christodoulas March will take place in all the provinces of Cyprus, with the Cyprus Cancer Association and the Bank of Cyprus calling on the public to participate and support the "fight against cancer" this year as well.

In free Famagusta, the Christodoulas March starts from the City Hall of Deryneia and ends at the Christodoulas Monument in Sotira (near SKE Sotiras). The hikers will be addressed by the Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Dimitris Syllouris.

The program of the 42nd Christodoula March, as well as the TV spot that has been shown in the media since last week, were presented during a press conference in Nicosia.

Goal, expansion

The planning of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association is at an advanced stage, for the expansion of the "Arodafnousa" Palliative Care Center, so that it can accommodate almost twice as many cancer patients.

According to the Chairman of the Board of the Anti-Cancer Association Adamos Adamos, whose greeting was read by the Vice President of the Association Myria Stavraki, the goal is to soon transform the "Evagoreio" Day Care Center in Limassol into a full-fledged Anatikou center care, as in "Arodafnousa". At the same time, efforts are being made to expand the home care service.

Mr. Adamou thanked the Bank of Cyprus, the long-time, as he said, sponsor of the Association, which "supported and continues to support the fight against cancer effectively and dynamically", but also the supporters of the Christodoula March.

Donation of 55 million

Christodoulos Patsalidis, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Operations at the Bank of Cyprus Group, said that everyone puts their own stamp and their own little stone on cancer-related issues.

"Bank of Cyprus supports the fight against cancer over time and in practice, with the largest donation to the Cypriot society, amounting to approximately 55 million euros to date," through the creation and support of the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Center, he added.

He also said that in 2016, the revenues from the Christodoulas March exceeded half a million, recording an increase of 13,8% and added that the goal this year is to increase the amount even more.

On Thursday, April 6, a Pancyprian Fundraiser will be held, where, through more than 40 kiosks, hundreds of volunteers, students and students with the yellow T-shirts and hats of the March, will collect contributions from the public.
