Unspeakable tragedy in Greece: Mother threw her 11-month-old baby into a river

An infant was found dead by passers-by at the Aliakmonas dam, with the first information pointing to his mother as the perpetrator.

Passers-by, who spotted the infant, immediately notified the authorities.

The child was immediately taken to the hospital in Veria, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the first information, it is a girl of about 11 months. EMAK divers arrived in the area this morning and recovered the dead baby.

Did the mother confess?

According to ANT1, the mother of the 11-month-old infant confessed that she threw him into the river on December 31.

The woman at first contradicted herself and said that the baby had been left at another place. After being pressured by the police, he confessed to throwing the baby into the river and pointed to the spot.

According to information, in the past the mother had been hospitalized in a psychiatric clinic.

The same information states that the father realized what had happened and reported the wife to the police.

The 30-year-old lives with her parents in a village in the area. Information from the website verianet.gr states that after her heinous act, she went to Alexandria and spent New Year's Eve in a hotel.

The next day, New Year's Day, she returned to her home.

When asked by her parents about the whereabouts of the child, she did not give clear answers. The parents then went and reported the incident to the police, while - as mentioned above - other information wants the baby's father, to whom she is not married, to have understood what had happened and reported her.

Finally, on the evening of January 1, 2023, the 30-year-old mother confessed her act and indicated the spot where she dropped the baby.
