At 10:30 a.m., the roll-call vote for the election of a new President of the Hellenic Republic will take place in the plenary session of the Parliament.

The only candidate is Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, current president of the Council of State, who is expected to receive - for the first time - the votes of MPs from three parties, namely ND, SYRIZA and the Movement for Change. The deputies of the KKE, the Hellenic Solution and the MERA25 will vote against, declaring "present".

Ms. Sakellaropoulou, who was nominated for the top state post by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, will be elected, unexpectedly, by the first ballot, which requires 200 positive votes, according to the recently revised Article 32 of the Constitution.

Then, as reported by Euronews, the Speaker of Parliament will go to the Council of State in order to announce the result of the vote to the new President of the Republic, who succeeds Professor Prokopis Pavlopoulos.

Aikaterini Sakellaropoulou maintained a Facebook account and in fact was very active on it, but she deactivated it after she was nominated for the Presidency of the Republic.
