The abduction of eight sailors, including five Greeks, of the Greek tanker "HAPPY LADY" anchored 2 nm from the port "LIMBOH" in Cameroon, was carried out by armed pirates after an attack this morning.

There were 28 crew members on board. Among those abducted are two more Filipinos and a Ukrainian national, while a Greek was injured in the incident.

As soon as the incident became known at the Operations Center of the Hellenic Coast Guard Headquarters, the competent services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were informed.

From the first moment, the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, Giannis Plakiotakis, was informed, who instructed the competent Directorates of YNANP to closely monitor the issue in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the management company.

A 35-year-old third engineer of the Greek tanker "HAPPY LADY" was injured by a bullet that was attacked by armed pirates, while it was anchored 2 nm from the port "LIMBOH" in Cameroon.

The crew member was taken to a local hospital, according to the Athens News Agency.
