The Sailing Olympian, Sofia Bekatorou, made new revelations about a sexual assault incident against her, claiming that this happened at the age of 16 and the perpetrator was another Olympian.
In an interview with the newspaper "Ta NEA", Sofia Bekatorou, from whom the revelations about the Greek "#metoo" began, when she found the courage to confess the abuse suffered by a member of the Sailing Federation, described what happened.
"Yes (I had been sexually harassed as a child) by a very big athlete, Olympian, when I was 16, who fortunately heard the no I said to him" says Sofia Bekatorou initially and adds: "I have testified to the prosecutor , but is secondary to what happened by factor. It was September, we were training in Piraeus and because it was very windy we could not go out by boat. He had a jet ski and suggested we go see the weather. I accepted. At one point he takes the jet ski from the back of Marina Zea, pretending that he wants to make something, throws me on the jet ski - it was 100 kilos - and looks at me. I tell him "what are you doing?". He answered me "come now, don't you want?". "I answered 'no' and he left me and we went back."
Sofia Bekatorou confesses that she described the scene to her father, who, as she says, replied: "Come on, Sofia, I can not believe that this man wanted something erotic from you. "You have a lot to learn from him, go on."
"Of course, my father did not want to put me in danger. "He just could not realize that his child, who was 16 years old, was seen by someone else as a woman," adds the Sailing Olympian.
"Judging by him, he could not imagine that a man much older than me could behave in this way," concludes Sofia Bekatorou.
