An amending bill that strengthens the tax collection capacity of the state and the possibility of exercising effective tax control, in order to combat tax evasion, was approved today by the Council of Ministers.
In statements after the session, the Minister of Finance, Haris Georgiadis, described the bill as important, noting that one aspect of it concerns the mandatory filing of a tax return by all those who have income, and not only by those who have an income over 19,5, XNUMX thousand euros a year which is the tax-free limit.
He added that a second provision concerns the obligation of almost all companies that provide services and products to accept electronic payment, ie payment by card. He added that this measure, which will encourage electronic payments, will strengthen tax control.
Mr. Georgiadis said that a provision is also introduced that aligns the non-payment of income tax with the non-payment of VAT. It is a criminal offense not to pay VAT, it should be a criminal offense and non-payment of confirmed income tax, he noted.
