QAnon shaman jailed for 41 months for invading the Capitol

The self-proclaimed "shaman" of the QAnon conspiracy movement was sentenced today by a federal court in Washington to 41 months in prison for his role in the deadly January 6 attack on the Capitol.

Prosecutors were seeking a sentence of more than four years in prison for Jacob Chansley, 4, who pleaded guilty in September to obstructing formal proceedings for participating in the invasion of Congress, along with hundreds of supporters of former President Donald Trump and President Donald Trump. the ratification of Joe Biden's victory in the presidential election. The same sentence was imposed last week on a man who punched a police officer during the incidents.

Chansley, who had attracted the attention of the public because of his attire, which included a headdress with large horns, appeared in court in a dark green prison uniform, beard and shaved head.

While in custody, Chansley was diagnosed with transient schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety. When he agreed to plead guilty, he said he was disappointed that Trump did not pardon him. Four people were killed in the January 6 violence. A police officer who had been attacked by protesters died the next day and four of his colleagues later committed suicide. About 140 police officers were injured.

Chancellor's lawyer Albert Watkins commented that in 2006 the Navy diagnosed his client with a personality disorder but deemed him "fit" to serve.
