As of today, Turkey will start imposing tariffs worth $ 266,5 million against the United States on the "unbearable" tariffs on steel decided by Washington, according to Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci.

He said tariffs would be imposed on imports of coal, paper, peanuts / almonds, tobacco, raw rice, whiskey, automobiles, cosmetics, machinery and petrochemicals from the United States.

"The total tariff burden that Turkey imposes on the United States today is proportional to the additional costs that Turkey is facing due to the tariffs imposed on it by the United States. "They are proportionate, well-designed and designed to protect Turkey's interests, at the same time as we encourage dialogue."

It is recalled that US President Donald Trump decided in March to impose tariffs of 25% and 10% respectively on steel and aluminum imports, provoking criticism from other countries that it increases the risk of a world trade war.
