Rare white truffle sold for 85.000 Euros

The price corresponds to 100 euros per gram!

At the incredible price of 85.000 euros, a white truffle was sold on November 11, just 850 grams. This astronomical price was auctioned in Alba, Italy (the "hometown" of white truffle), a bidder from Hong Kong, whose name was not announced.

According to a representative of the auction, the sale price of this truffle does not correspond in any case to this year's purchase price. To be precise, the purchase price of the white truffle is about 350 euros per 100 grams, however the truffle that was sold at this auction for € 85.000 ended up being priced about 30 times higher or 100 euros per gram!

"The fact that the auction was held for charitable reasons explains its high price, as well as the fact that it is rare to find an 850-gram truffle, and the larger it is, the more valuable it is," she told AFP.
