YouTube: Restrictions on users under 18 and confirmation of age with ID

What will apply from now on

The change in Youtube that will bring upset

Google has announced that users under the age of 18 in Europe will now have to provide additional proof of age when requesting access to YouTube-inappropriate material for minors. If Google's systems fail to verify that the user is over 18 years of age, then you will be required to use an ID or credit card as proof.

The company said it was continuing its efforts to provide YouTube users with age-appropriate experiences, and that its initiative, which will be implemented in the coming months, also respects upcoming regulations, such as European EU Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD).

From now on, in case of exposure to age-restricted content, YouTube users will have to log in to their account and be 18 years of age or older to be able to watch it. If not, then a warning will appear, which will guide them to make appropriate choices based on their age.

Google also announced that it will continue its efforts through the use of artificial intelligence (machine learning), so that age restrictions are applied automatically. Content creators will be able to appeal a decision they believe was wrongly implemented by the company.

Users trying to access age-restricted videos on third-party sites will be redirected to YouTube, where they must be logged in and over 18 to view them. This is intended to be accessible only to the appropriate audience, regardless of where the video was found.
