Dust concentrations in the atmosphere are high today, Tuesday, especially in Nicosia and Paphos, with the Department of Labor Inspection calling on the public as it avoids going outdoors and employers taking appropriate action for their employees.

An announcement by the Department, transmitted by the GTP, states that because The powder contains small inhalable particles, which may have a negative effect on human health, the public and especially vulnerable groups, children, the elderly and the sick, are urged to avoid moving in the open until the phenomenon is over.

Employers, he added, "They must take appropriate measures (organizational or technical), after assessing the risks to their employees who are outdoors and employees in such areas are advised to use appropriate means of personal protection."

The last hourly dust collection values ​​measured at 8:00 am in the following areas were:
Nicosia: 134 μg / m3
Limassol: 81 μg / m3
Larnaca: 81.4 μg / m3
Paphos: 137.6 μg / m3
Lakeside: 66.2 μg / m3
Scales: 43.9 μg / m3
Agia Marina Xyliatou: 47.5 μg / m3

It is noted that "Dust" means inhalable particulate matter in the atmosphere less than 10 μm in diameter (PM10). According to the relevant legislation, the limit value refers to the average daily value and should not exceed the value of 50 μg / m3 (micrograms per cubic meter).
