The Parliamentary Committee on Health will support the work of the Karaiskaki Foundation in any way it can, such as in matters of institutionalization of procedures and laws, in order to strengthen the already excellent work that is being produced, said the Chair of the Committee, DISY MP Savvia Orfanidou.

He said that the Health Committee that visited Karaiskakeio today, had the opportunity to see up close and be informed about the multifaceted but also great and theatrical action it performs, especially in the field of bone marrow for donors but also in matters of hematology and pediatric cancer issues.

"We want to say how proud we are as a country for the work of Karaiskakeio and how much we congratulate them for the excellent work they are doing," said Ms. Orfanidou.

He pointed out that we are one of the first countries in terms of population in the file for volunteer bone marrow donors, which numbers around 217 thousand volunteers, which file is part of a huge global bank, around 37 million volunteers.

"This year they close their 25 years of supply with many actions and sensitivities and their goal is, as they have informed us, to upgrade, to improve the quality of services, especially to children, since it is also a center of pediatric oncology, excellence, in fact, one of the best in "They place special emphasis on childhood cancer in order to better serve children," he added.

We were also informed, continued Ms. Orfanidou, that to date they have given more than 650 transplants in 33 countries, on five continents.

He stated that all these services are provided free of charge by a staff, which is specially trained and whose goal is to provide the services in the best possible way.

Finally, he pointed out that Karaiskakeio has become an Institution, a model in the quality of services provided at European and global level.
