AKEL MP Skevi Koukouma expressed her own position in a post on social networks, about what was revealed on Thursday night (14/3) in a report by the main bulletin of SIGMA, regarding a Non-Performing Loan that is said to be in its possession.

Regarding tonight's TV report, which concerns me, I would like to clarify the following:
1. The existence in my name of an inherited agricultural loan of 230 thousand euros is registered in my statement for Pothen Esches which is published and posted on the page of the Parliament. In addition, I had informed about the existence of the loan in a letter to the Speaker of Parliament, as provided by the relevant Rules. It is obvious that I could not in any case benefit from the legislation for MES voted by the Parliament, since they concerned the protection of first residence and professional housing, while the loan that concerns me is agricultural.
2. The loan of 230 thousand euros is inherited from my father while the rest was taken over by my brothers, as it became clear that my father, a farmer by profession, at an advanced age could not repay his obligations. All loans were and are fully secured by mortgaged agricultural land.
3. For 2,5 years now, together with my brothers, we have submitted a proposal to the Cooperative Bank to repay all the loans of my now deceased father, on terms that would be more favorable for the Cooperation than the relevant legislation provides. No favorable treatment was requested or granted. However, the Cooperative CB never gave any answer.
4. For all the above and for any other clarifications required I am at the disposal of anyone, including the media, who for ethical reasons could have requested in advance our position that clarifies things and any inaccuracies.
