The Sector Council of Nurses and other Hospital Staff considers that the lack of proper building infrastructure for the reception and accommodation of patients at Athalassa Hospital creates problems with the fullness of the wards, with the result that some patients end up sleeping on the couches or even on the floor.

In a statement today, the Nurses' Sector Council and other Hospital Staff condemned these practices, which "show once again the state's indifference to the immediate resolution of this serious problem, which is timeless."

He adds "there is an urgent need to protect both patients and staff, who make every effort to carry out their duties and provide quality care to patients."

He expresses the hope that the competent bodies will intervene in this problem and will make every effort to solve it.

"It is tragic, in 2022, in a European country in a European hospital for these conditions to prevail," he concludes.
