The UN Security Council resolution on the renewal of the mandate of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus until 31 January 2022 has been released as an official document of the United Nations Security Council. adopted unanimously on 29 July.

The resolution was released as an official Security Council document on 3 August under number S / RES / 2587 (2021).

In resolution, among others, the Security Council reaffirms its Presidential Declaration of 23 July 2021 on Turkish illegal activities in Varos, reaffirms the relevant statements of the President of Turkey and the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community on 20 July 2021, and calls for the immediate withdrawal of illegal actions that have taken place since October 2020, and reaffirms the relevant resolutions, with special reference to resolutions 550 (1984) and 789 (1992).

With regard to Varos, in particular, the resolution reiterates the Security Council's position that no action should be taken that is incompatible with the above-mentioned resolutions and calls for actions to be avoided that undermine the prospects for a peaceful solution.
