AKEL is on the side of the professor-artist. Calls on the Government to withdraw

The press release in detail

male professor

The works of Professor George Gabriel are at the free discretion of every citizen. However, the disciplinary investigation and the attempt of silencing and persecution by the Anastasiadis-Alarm government against the artist professor for works he created and presented outside of educational / professional time and space is inadmissible in a democratic country. It is also an indication of a profound and reactionary conservatism, practices and perceptions that belong to other eras.

"It's a lie for the Ministry, which has now recalled to claim that the research is not about the artistic creation or expression of ideas, but the application of specific Regulations governing the Education Service and the duties provided for a school principal." We remind you that in its first announcement the Ministry of Education announced a disciplinary investigation into the "alginate impression caused by paintings" which, according to the ministry, constituted "insulting public feeling and promoting messages that cultivate a sense of contempt or possibly a climate of intolerance." ». It is, therefore, to the detriment of the artistic creation and its content that the disciplinary investigation was launched by the Ministry of Education.

AKEL calls on the Anastasiadis-Alarm government and the Minister of Education to immediately end any kind of disciplinary investigation against the artist professor.
