Tragedy in a patrol car: A man died shortly after his arrest

The police are investigating the sudden death of a 64-year-old man in Nicosia.

According to the authorities, on Sunday afternoon members of the force rushed to the home of the 64-year-old as an arrest warrant was pending against him.

The 64-year-old man, at the sight of the Policemen, ran away with the Policemen chasing him. He then felt unwell, stopped running and the Police handcuffed him. A fainting episode followed, as a result of which he was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is awaited so that the exact causes of his death are disputed.
