A woman was detained on Tuesday for illegally entering and staying in the territory of the Republic and for a case of forgery.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director Michalis Ioannou, on Tuesday afternoon, a member of the passport control center at Paphos Airport, who was conducting a passport control in the area for the flight to the Netherlands, reported that a woman of African descent had appeared.
During the check, the woman presented a Portuguese passport, which was found to be forged. The suspect was taken to an office at the passport control center at Paphos airport for questioning, where she allegedly stated that the specific information listed in the above identity card is her real information but she is a Cameroonian national.
She also stated that she bought the fake ID card from Turkey, from a person unknown to her.
According to Mr. Ioannou, based on her real data, no registration was found in the Asylum Service system, nor in the arrival-departure system.
The woman was then arrested for the spontaneous offenses of forgery, illegal entry and stay in the territory of the Republic and was then transported by members of the Paphos TAE to the TAE Offices for further interrogation and receiving a written statement in her mother tongue. An arrest warrant was issued against her for all the crimes investigated, she was arrested and detained. TAE Paphos is investigating the case.
