Thanks for the strong support of Bulgaria and personally the President of the country, in the efforts for the reunification of Cyprus
expressed the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis.
Speaking tonight at a formal dinner in honor of his Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev, who is paying an official visit to Cyprus, President Anastasiadis reiterated that the reunification of Cyprus must lead to a functioning, sustainable, and truly sovereign and independent state.
He also stressed that the common desire of the two countries is to further strengthen their relations in areas such as shipping, trade, energy, education and culture.
Referring to the Cyprus issue, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said that his country has a consistent position of principles which it will continue to maintain. He added that the solution should be within the framework of the UN resolutions.
Regarding bilateral relations, he said that there are concrete results from the cooperation of the two countries, underlining the prospects for their further deepening, something, he noted, which will bring mutual economic benefits.
