Having completed 40 years in Formula 1, the French company, in addition to significant racing success and winning championships either as an engine manufacturer or as a team as a whole, has managed to bring a number of technological innovations.

With the presentation of the prototype RS 2027 at the Shanghai International Auto Show, it sets the stage for Formula 1 in 2027, through a hybrid racing car that focuses on the driver and offers a more impressive, safe and environmentally friendly racing action .

Key features of the impressive prototype include:

  1. A more human-centered experience with the drivers in the spotlight and the spectators being able to discern all the intensity of the race on their face through the transparent cockpit and the transparent helmet.
  2. A more impressive aesthetic thanks to the integrated LED elements and the active aerodynamic aids. "C" shaped LED elements are already a dominant feature in Renault's design language in models such as the new Clio and Megane.
  3. Safer action thanks to the autonomous driving system that is activated in case of accident, but also the reinforced cover of the cockpit made of polycarbonate material.
  4. More interaction with viewers being able to see the car's telemetry systems.
  5. Top performance thanks to technologically advanced applications developed by Groupe Renault, such as 4-wheel drive, the active four-wheel steering system (available on various models in the range such as the new Megane GT) and sophisticated batteries. At the same time, the RS 2027 has the top power/weight ratio in Formula 1 with 1.341 hp and 600 kg.
  6. Even more environmentally friendly Formula 1 with the capacity of the fuel tank being reduced by half and the possibility of exclusively electric drive for use in the pit lane.
  7. "Renault Sport Racing's role is to explore the future of Formula 1 in order to attract the maximum number of fans in an environment compatible with the Groupe's objectives. We believe that with the RS 2027, a prototype that expresses our ideas and expectations, we will create the conditions for interesting discussions with people from the racing world and fans of the sport," said Cyril Abiteboul, Head of Renault Sport Racing.
