Olivia Newton-John: The star of the musical "Grease" has died

Newton John breathed her last at her Southern California ranch this morning, surrounded by family and friends.

Olivia Newton John was born on September 26, 1948, in Cambridge, Britain, to parents of Anglo-Australian descent.

She received a four-time Grammy award and has entered the number-one five times and ten times in the top-ten of the Billboard Hot 100, while two of her records have taken the first place on the Billboard 200.

Eleven of her singles (including two platinum) and 14 of her albums (including two platinum and four double platinum) have gone gold. She has sold nearly 100 million records worldwide and is considered one of the best-selling artists in the world.

She starred in the musical Grease (1978) and the song of the same name is one of the most successful in the history of music while the single "You're the One That I Want", with her co-star John Travolta, is one of the singles with the most all time sales.

Newton John has also been an activist for environmental and animal rights issues. He has been a health advocate and has been involved with several charities, health products and fundraisers. Her business interests include launching several products for Koala Blue and owning Gaia Retreat & Spa in Australia.

Newton John was married twice. She had a daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, with her first husband, actor Matt Lattanzi. In 2008 she married John Easterlig.
