The "zucchini" with the increase of the groups and the "silent" cinema!

eklogiki sineleysi tis KOP A Category, B Category, Cyprus Football Championship

BY ANDREAS PARASKEVA

We have been sued by the unions in general since there is no other explanation for the well-made plan that they are running with the increase of the teams.

On the one hand we want a more competitive championship, we reduced the teams to 12 in this direction and before the new marathons start well to see results they ask through a joint letter for an increase of the teams.

Where we believed that everyone realized that the good of our football is a significant reduction of teams so that there are more competitive games and there are no expediencies in many of them, the Clubs themselves come to change the scene.

They put their interests above the good of football and expect people to become complicit in their "crimes".

The small Associations, those that compete in the Second Division and the small and medium ones that are fighting for their survival, it makes sense to move the threads for the increase of the teams since the financial exchanges due to television are bigger.

But the saddest thing of all is that it is done with the blessings of the elders, even if they play the "zucchini" with the specific suggestion.

Instead of thinking of ways to persuade people to return to the stadiums and enjoy football, to dispel the prejudice that exists with the red envelopes that filled the GRT drawers two years ago, to build infrastructure and improve the miserable conditions of their stadiums, they think of the pure interests of their Associations completely indifferent to those who watch their product.

Unless there are so many "other" benefits that they will have from the new increase of the teams and it is convenient for everyone to be away from the stadiums.

However, there is no plan to improve our football and there is no will to make it better.

That is why every week the big protagonists who are the same players will play in empty stadiums… like the silent cinema.
