As part of the celebrations for the National Anniversary of the National Liberation Struggle, the Municipality of Sotiras organizes a symbolic candlelight vigil as well as an Internet Discussion.
Specifically, on Wednesday, March 31, at 18:30, six runners from AEK Sotiras, the Famagusta Correctional Runners Association and the Run for Autism Support Famagusta, will carry a flame from the hideout of the EOKA 1955-59 fighters to the chapel of Agios Nik the EOKA Struggle Museum 1955-59 in the Municipality of Sotiras honoring on the one hand the Anniversary of the National Liberation Struggle of EOKA 1955-59 as well as the International Autism Awareness Day which is on April 2.
Festive Doxology
In the Municipality of Sotira, the Solemn Doxology of April 1 will be performed at the Holy Temple of the Transfiguration of the Savior.
The solemnity of the day is announced by Archimandrite George Ioannou, who in 1956 was a prisoner at the Pyla Detention Center.
This year's pandemic event online
The Municipality of Sotiras organizes a free online discussion on "Discussing the EOKA Struggle 1955-'59" in the framework of the National Anniversary of the EOKA 1955-'59 National Liberation Struggle.
