It's been almost 10 years since Mr Paschalis Terzis he made a life decision: to leave the slopes. The popular singer's decision surprised his numerous fans. The years that followed were mainly characterized by the economic crisis that "struck" at night, with the map and the way of entertainment changing. Paschalis Terzis, therefore, returned a month ago - even in this way - record label. And now his fans are wondering if he will return to the slopes. But probably this will hardly happen, since his decision to stay away from the night seems final. A decision made while he was at the height of his career, at the beginning of the last decade.
The singer was born and raised in Pylaia, Thessaloniki. His childhood was beautiful, but had financial difficulties. From a very early age, at just 12 years old, Paschalis Terzis started working to help his family, selling tomatoes, vegetables and grapes.
He would wake up in the middle of the night and walk to the vegetable market, pick up the merchandise and then go to sell. And each time he would happily return home and show his bedridden mother (suffering from serious problems in the middle) what he had caught from the merchandise.
His father was a shepherd and sang in the fields. As Terzis has confessed, when the fellow villagers listened to him, everyone stopped working and said "Mayousaki is singing". From there, then, it seems he got the charisma and love for the song.
From his father, however, he took the advice he gave him before closing his eyes. And that the popular singer described it as a "gospel" in his life and in his long journey in song: "Whatever you become from now on, no matter how much you go on the track, Terzis you will be only in the name. When you get off the track, you will become Paschalis. Because if Paschalis does not exist, Terzis will not exist either ". His father caught him on his ascent. An upload that did not come quickly.
As soon as he was discharged from the army, he got married and he and his wife had a son. But she passed away and as he himself has confessed, it was the most difficult period of his life.
"Even though I had a son with her, my George. I won't hide it from you, I had a strong desire to finish. But a grandfather called me and said: What are you talking about? Why did you bring this into the world? And he showed me the little one", he told Real newspaper.
Life, however, goes on and later, he remarried and created a beautiful and happy family, as he proudly says.
His essential beginning and contact with singing took place in Rhodes in 1974 with the composer and musician Grigoris Tzistoudis. In addition to folk songs, Paschalis Terzis also sang folk songs, enthralling the audience. Although he had proposals to release his own record, this finally happened in 1980 and while he was already counting years in singing.
The one who heard him and put him in the discography was Christos Nikolopoulos. His first solo album was released in 1982 with the title "Leo", while it was the starting point for his long-standing friendship with the renowned composer.
Alongside their record work, they held concerts together throughout Greece and appearances in centers of Thessaloniki. In fact, in the same year, Terzis takes part in the album "Play Christ urgently", together with Eleni Vitali, George Sarris and Dimitris Kontolazos, with music by Christos Nikolopoulos and lyrics by Manolis Rasoulis.
In 1983, his second successful personal record followed with the title "Speak to me in the singular", from which "Fantasia mou planeutra" stood out. In the following years, the successes continue and the singer begins to establish himself in terms of records. However, the landmark record for him comes in 1990, where he collaborates once again with Christos Nikolopoulos and Katerina Korou, it is "I am alone".
In 1991, the album "I would like to be here" was released and now its introduction to folk song begins. Successes follow one another, as do gold and platinum records. He collaborates with great composers and lyricists, such as George Theofanous, Evi Droutsa, Phoebus and others.
He sings the songs with his melodic voice and seals them, while giving the world some classic zeibeks, such as "Paliokairos", "Afise me mona", "Feggari mou pale" etc .. But Terzis does not triumph only in terms of records . He also becomes the "lord" of the night. He fills shops and knows the apotheosis of the people.
And while he is at the height of his career, he decides to give up the night. It was in the early 2010s, when his decision to "thunder" and live a quiet life, away from the madness of the night, fell like a bolt of lightning.
Paschalis Terzis, after almost 40 years, called an end to the night. "What I had to give, I gave," he had declared at the time. His decision took him by surprise. He upset his fans and left… the moon complaining. But, by the people who loved him, his decision was respected. And they completely understood his need to retire to his estate in Agia Paraskevi, outside Thessaloniki and become a "farmer", cultivating his land. And do already selected appearances.
And see how life brings them? As a small child he sold horticultural and agricultural products and now he can grow them himself.
"I managed to put some things aside and look at Paschalis a bit. I never wanted to reach the top, not because I am not ambitious, but because I was afraid of the cliff. So, they made the decision for me to stop working..." he had stated in the newspaper Real News.
And if the world that loves him, respected his decision, letting him live his new life calmly, away from the nights and the madness of the night, the same did not happen to various well-wishers. Yes, there will always be them.
And these, the well-wishers, did not take long to make their appearance, spreading every now and then during these 10 years that the singer has retired, that he is facing various health problems. His family sometimes denies the rumors circulating and sometimes turns its back on them.

In a recent interview with Grigoris Arnaoutoglou, Paschalis Terzis' daughter Gianna spoke about the decision to release the song with her father.
"I always had it in the back of my mind to record a song together. We have sung many times together live, but I wanted to have something that would last. When I put it on his cell phone to listen to the lyrics and the music, he says "we're going to sing this song". It's out, we were excited when we first heard it. It was a test for us. I was anxious about writing the verse because it had been missing for a while. Now that we have seen the response of the people, it fell on the table whether I should write songs or a record for my father", he said, among other things.
She also revealed that the great singer sings at home and she and her mother pretend not to listen to him so that he continues and does not stop.
