May 11, 1947 and take a picture: O. Winston Churchill, one of the victors of World War II, sitting at Le Bourget Airport in Paris and eagerly awaiting his flight, frequently lighting La Corona's Cuban cigar with the matches he occasionally lazily pulls out of his inside pocket of his jacket.

In a short time, he and his wife will fly to England and he interrupts the conversation he had with French agents in order to board. He leaves the cigar in the ashtray and at the same time o William Alan Turner, the pilot who would carry the famous couple, hurries to board it and become the first -unknowingly- collector.

He obviously did not have in mind that after a few years the half-smoked cigar with the authenticity label on it could be sold for several thousand dollars at an auction. He did what he did, as he has said in the past, purely for security reasons.

And yes, that a few days ago, this particular cigar was sold for 10.110 euro from the house RR Auction, who is based in Boston, USA, to a buyer whose name is not yet known.
