A founding member of The Beatles and a pioneer of the rock scene, John Lennon is considered one of the greatest minds music has ever given birth to. He was born in 1940 in Liverpool. His father was a sailor and his mother a dancer. His parents divorced and John went to stay at the home of his strict aunt Mimi and her husband George. He adored his mother while he loved her even more when at the age of 17 he gave him his first guitar. A year later his mother dies in a car accident. John is said to have never overcome the event. But it was the reason he came close to his youngest Paul McCartney who had also lost his mother to cancer.

He studied at the College of Fine Arts in Liverpool and there he met his first wife, with whom he had a son. The Beatles slowly began to rehearse in the basement of Paul's house. George Harrison later joined the band. After many name changes, in 1959 the band gets the name that made it famous.

At first he appeared in the pubs of Liverpool and Hamburg, Germany. In the pubs of the British port, a manager will discover them and will "send" them to record their first single, "Love me Do". The Beatles become the biggest band in the world, with its members unable to leave from home, as there was a risk to their physical integrity from raging fans. "Beatlemania" had made its appearance and lasted for less than a decade.

The squabbles within the band and Lennon's constant mixing partner Yoko Ono disbanded in 1970. Lennon began a solo career, but never reached the level of The Beatles. The highlight was the album "Imagine" in 1971, with the eponymous song remaining immortal, mainly due to its anti-war message.

In 1971 he moved to New York, where he remained until his assassination. In 1973 he divorced Yoko Ono for two years, with whom he reunited and eventually married her in 1975 in Gibraltar. They had a child the same year. Five years later, the music itself mourned the unjust loss of a great artist when John Lennon was murdered outside his home in Manhattan, New York, by a mentally ill fan. It is said that the day before, he had not signed an autograph at the same place, although it has never been confirmed. John Lennon and The Beatles are still a major chapter in rock and world music.
