Consuming some foods and beverages individually can prove to be beneficial for our health. However, when combined with something else, they can have the opposite effect.
For example, there are some food combinations that cause bloating, increase blood sugar levels and reduce the absorption of nutrients.
Here are three of them:
Tea and milk
The antioxidants in black tea reduce the inflammation associated with diabetes and many chronic conditions. However, the addition of even a little milk (of animal or soy origin) prevents the absorption of antioxidants.
Alcohol and caffeine
For example, have you drunk enough wine with your food and are you ready to enjoy a cup of coffee to drive away drowsiness and regain your energy? This is a big mistake. Research has shown that people who combine caffeine and alcohol are at greater risk of accidents.
Lentils and red wine
Red wine contains the chemical compounds tannins. When combined with iron, which is found in lentils and soy, they prevent it from being absorbed by the body.
