The Achna Community Council unanimously decided to withdraw its interest in establishing a crocodile park in the Community.

As he stated to KYPE, the Commonwealth Leader Achnas Nikos Vassilas "last night during a meeting of the Community Council a unanimous decision was taken not to proceed with the investment for the creation of a crocodile park in the area".
As Mr. Vassilas explained, "six of the eight members of the Community Council claimed that after the nationwide meeting held at the end of April, they found that quite a large number of residents were reacting to the investment. I and another member of the Council argued that during the discussion of the issue in the Environment Committee of the Parliament, which we were invited to attend, some members of the Committee showed irresponsibility and populism, while refusing to pressure the competent State Services to take official location for the crocodile park ".
As the Common Leader stated, "we will necessarily inform the interested company that we are withdrawing our interest for the creation of the park".
It is recalled that the company (Israeli and Cypriot interests) showed interest in creating a crocodile park in Dasaki Achnas, after the rejection of a proposal by the Community of Psematismenos, which was invoked for reasons of public safety and by the Municipality of Athienou, which did not respond.
The company's proposal concerned a theme park with about 150 crocodiles, in an area of 40 thousand square meters and would be created on the old road Larnaca - Famagusta, on the road between Achna Forest - Vrysoullos, in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
