Hundreds of people from Achni were found in the morning in the dead zone of Achna, opposite the occupied church of Agia Marina to quell their desire to return to their occupied community.
The occasion was the 44th anniversary of the occupation of Achna by the Turkish invaders, on August 28, 1974.
A procession and prayer preceded it, in the presence of the icon of Agia Marina, by the priests of the community to return to the enslaved village. The procession started after the church service from the end of the road of the Achna Forest cemetery opposite the occupied village, at the junction of the road with the old Larnaca - Famagusta road.
The anti-occupation event entitled "I Achna Ealo" was organized by the Community Council and the Achna Forest Youth Center. The event included recitation of poems and speeches. It ended with the recitation of the national anthem.
Among the hundreds of Achniotes were refugees from the occupied village living in other areas of Cyprus, except Dasaki, as well as Achniotes from the Diaspora who are in Cyprus on vacation.

In his statements, the Commonwealth of Achna Forest, Nikos Vassilas, requested the return of Achna to its legal residents, without negotiations, as he stated. "We gathered outside our occupied village to quell our desire to return. "As you can see, it is a village that was deserted, it is uninhabited, and for this reason we immediately ask for its (surrender) delivery to the legal residents, without even negotiations, because as I said, it is a deserted village".
Following the event, a resolution was adopted and delivered to the United Nations. A delegation of the Community went to Pyla to deliver the resolution, as as explained by the Commonwealth Nikos Vassilas, the area of Dasaki Achnas belongs to the domination of the British Bases.
