Three boats carrying migrants were spotted off Cabo Greco yesterday and today by the authorities. There were 98 migrants on board the boat that was detected yesterday afternoon and in the second case, today at dawn, 76 migrants were on board the boat, while later in the morning, a boat carrying 23 migrants was detected.

Specifically, on February 25 at 17:50 p.m., a wooden boat was detected by radar 16 nautical miles from Cape Greco, off Larnaca.

The boat was carrying 98 migrants from Syria, 57 men, six women, 35 minors.

Today, Monday, February 26, at 3 a.m., the 98 migrants were safely transported to the Port of Larnaca, where their details were recorded.

After examinations, the authorities proceeded to arrest a 56-year-old man for illegal immigration.

The 56-year-old was presented today before the Larnaca District Court, where a detention order was issued for him for a period of 8 days.

The remaining 97 migrants were transferred to the Pournara Migrant Temporary Accommodation Center in Kokkinotrimithia.

Two boats with migrants were detected by the radars of the Coastal and Maritime Police in the sea area south-east of Cape Greco, today.

In particular, the first boat was stopped by the Limeniki harbor at 1:8 a.m., at XNUMX nautical miles, southeast of Cape Greco.

The boat was carrying 76 migrants, all from Syria. They are 35 men, 11 women and 30 children.

The migrants were safely transported to the Ayia Napa Marina.

When interrogated, the migrants reported that they left the Lebanese coast on February 25 at 15:00 p.m., after paying 3.000 US dollars each to an unknown person.

This morning the authorities proceeded to arrest a 27-year-old man from Syria, who was allegedly the boat's navigator.

The remaining 75 migrants were transferred to the Pournara Migrant Temporary Accommodation Center in Kokkinotrimithia.

The second boat was spotted today at 11:00, nine nautical miles southeast of Cabo Gremo.

A Coastal and Maritime Police boat rushed to the scene and found that 23 migrants, all from Syria, were on board the boat. They are 15 men, three women and five children.

The migrants were safely transported to the Ayia Napa Marina.

When questioned, the migrants said that they left Tripoli, Lebanon, on February 24 at 21:00, after paying 3,500 thousand US dollars to an unknown person.

The Police proceeded to arrest a young man, 18 years old, who was allegedly the boat's navigator.

The remaining 22 migrants were transferred to the Pournara Migrant Temporary Accommodation Center in Kokkinotrimithia.

The two arrested, aged 27 and 18, are expected to appear tomorrow before the Famagusta District Court, in Paralimni.
