Anorthosis and Nea Salamina issued a joint announcement in view of the match between them on Saturday night.
The announcement:
"The two refugee Associations of Famagusta, Nea Salamina and Anorthosis, would like through the following announcement to send their own message to the fans of our occupied city in view of the derby between us for the 9th game of the championship. A derby of passion, strength and thirst for victory but also of sportsmanship, mutual respect and nostalgia for our occupied mother-city.
Unfortunately, for another year, the two historical teams are called to face each other in a fight between us away from our physical headquarters, in exile. Forty-four years old, Anorthosis and Nea Salamina - like of course the other Refugee Associations - carry the cross of martyrdom to Golgotha of uprooting. Stoically, we await the day of return, having as the only living memory of our occupied territories our Associations. Associations that, for us refugees in particular, advocate higher values and ideally, for many, inconceivable.
"Famagusta, you know we will return, faithful to your spring"! This is the motto that beats in the heart of every Famagusta man, to whom we invite everyone to come to the stadium right in a spirit of sport and good play, to support with all our might the efforts of our footballers and in the end to applaud the winner, if to exist.
Everything that brings us together and unites us, is clearly many times more than the few and insignificant that separate us. The goal of the Return is common, the vision of Resettlement in the city of Evagoras is common, the struggle to achieve it is common!
