The Famagusta Tourism Development and Promotion Company of the Famagusta province gave its own answer to the use of the Famagusta name in the slogan for the campaign to attract tourism to the region.

As a Company for Tourism Development and Promotion of the Famagusta Region, we read with regret the announcement of the Municipality of Famagusta regarding the campaign "Famagusta, it is your summer".

The campaign was created with the aim of attracting domestic tourists, in the difficult conditions that prevail due to the pandemic that mercilessly affected the tourism industry of Cyprus and our region.

The Municipalities and the communities of the Province of Famagusta are trying to save what is left over from the tourist product of our area and of course it was not our goal to erase Famagusta from anyone's memory. Famagusta was and is the capital of our province and has been enslaved for 46 years and all communities and municipalities of the province of Famagusta want it free to work together for the prosperity of our province and the whole of Cyprus.

On the other hand, it is technically impossible to use the names of all the municipalities and communities located in El. Famagusta Province to create our campaign. We chose the use of the province, to geographically delimit our area, since we fall in the province of Famagusta, in the same way that Famagusta is used in the Famagusta RTU, but also in countless other bodies in the province. In the same way that the term free province of Nicosia is not used, while it is the last divided capital.
