The investigations into the firing of shots at a mobile camera van, while it was parked on the Xylofagos - Avgoros road, are in full progress.

According to information, the Authorities are considering the possibility that the shootings were not targeted, but an accident, as poachers are active in the area.

As evidenced by the investigations so far, the Police are leaning towards this scenario, as the shots were fired as soon as the operator parked the vehicle.

It is noted that the incident occurred around 9:00 on Wednesday night, when the driver heard a shot in the distance and then saw bullets hitting the car.

As the driver started to drive away, he heard a second shot from a closer distance, which did not hit the car.

Police men went to the scene and from the tests carried out, it became clear that it was shotgun shots that were fired from a distance of more than 100 meters.

The shots caused minor damage to the car, with the driver not injured.

The case is being investigated by the Famagusta Police Department.
