In the presence of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, the inauguration of the second phase of Karyon Avenue in Avgorou took place on Monday night, January 22nd.
The first phase of the project was completed in April 2016.
According to the Minister of Transport, Karyon Avenue is the main main road, both for the Community of Avgoros and for the surrounding area. The road includes two lanes of traffic, paved sidewalks, bike path and green lane, pedestrian crossings and bus stops.
Phase B cost about half a million euros and essentially concerned the improvement of the intersection of Karyon Avenue on both sides in a length of about 300 meters with Kyriakou Makri and Thomas Panteli streets.
Mr. Dimitriadis pointed out that the Department of Public Works carries out projects amounting to 305 million euros, while all the projects announced by the President of the Republic amount to 1 billion euros.
The President of the Community, Panagiotis Michailas, in turn expressed his thanks to the Minister of Transport and the Department of Public Works, as he mentioned the project gives new dynamics to the social, economic and business activity of the community. He went on to say that it upgrades the level of safety for drivers and pedestrians and that it transforms Avgorou into a modern and European Community.
The inauguration ceremony was followed by an artistic program by the Children's Choir of the Community Council of Avgoros, a dance program by THOI Avgorou and the Folklore Club "Avkoritissa Foni" and a lecture on road safety.
