Today's announcement of the outgoing Minister of Interior for the unification of the four Municipalities, Paralimni, Ayia Napa, Deryneia and Sotira, brought voices and reactions to the free Famagusta.

The Mayor of Deryneia expressed his dissatisfaction with the non-satisfaction of the request for merger with Frenaros and Acheritou but also with the occupied Municipality of Famagusta.

The Mayor of Deryneia, Andros Karagiannis "now comes the Municipality of Deryneia and is forced to agree to cooperate with the tourist Municipalities and the tourist Municipalities will certainly have the upper hand in this way since they have the most revenue."

The unanimous decisions of the municipal councils of Ayia Napa and Sotira and of the Community of Liopetri for the merger between them do not seem to be implemented.

Sotira Mayor Georgios Takkas said: "It is a given that there are unanimous decisions for the unification of Ayia Napa, Sotira and Liopetri."

As expected, most of the reactions came from the residents of Ayia Napa, who considered a "red cloth" a possible merger with Paralimni.

However, the outgoing Mayor of Ayia Napa and new Minister of Transport stated through the show "Noon and Something" that he will continue the fight for the unification of Ayia Napa with Sotira and Liopetri.

"The Municipality of Ayia Napa insists on its proposal, which I support and will continue to support, as well as the Municipal Council," Sigma said in a telephone interview on Sigma's "Noon and Something" show.

For his part, Deputy Mayor Christos Zannetos said: "We will continue to claim and insist on the decision of the Municipal Council because we must be justified and justify the people of Ayia Napa."

Today, in a meeting of the plenary session of the Municipal Council of Ayia Napa, Giannis Karousos said goodbye to the staff and the Municipal Council, while regarding the filling of the vacant position, elections will be held for a new Mayor on January 12.
