An artistic event to commemorate the Independence Day of Ukraine, which is celebrated on August 24, was organized tonight (Thursday, August 24, 2023) in the Central Square of Ayia Napa by the Ukrainian Rotary Club of Larnaca.
The event was graced by the presence of the Attaché of the Embassy of Ukraine in Cyprus Ms. Oksana Saganyuk and the Mayor of Ayia Napa Mr. Christos Zannettos, who in his greeting once again emphasized the continuous and practical support of the Municipality to the trying Ukrainian people, who for about two years due to the Russian invasion have been away from the his ancestral homes.
Mr. Zannettou referred to the fact that in Ayia Napa many Ukrainian refugees are accommodated in accommodation, to the contribution of the Municipality to the creation together with KEPAKY and Mr. Andreas Sofokleous of a Ukrainian kindergarten in Ayia Napa as well as a Ukrainian library with literary books, which he inaugurated six months ago together with the Ambassador of Ukraine in Cyprus.
Such cultural events, he added, play an important role in reuniting people as they act as a unifying force that brings people together and share similar or different values, traditions and customs.
He expressed the hope that the war will stop as soon as possible and a safe Ukraine, integrated in Europe that will have good relations with all its neighbors will now be a fact.
