As part of the investigation of the above offences, members of the Police yesterday proceeded to arrest two young women aged 20.

The arrest of the two 20-year-old women was preceded by a complaint from a shop owner in Ayia Napa, for the theft of goods from his shop.

Specifically, yesterday afternoon a shop owner in Ayia Napa realized that one of the arrested women was inside his shop stealing various jewels.

Members of the Police (OPE Famagusta), who were on foot patrol, were called by the owner of the store and immediately took charge of the incident.

The members of the Police located the woman in question, where from subsequent examinations, six hand chains and one neck chain were found in her possession, which were received as evidence.

The 20-year-old, when informed about her arrest for the spontaneous crime of illegal possession of property, together with the second 20-year-old who arrived at the place, started shouting and causing concern, while also attacking the members of the Police.

The two 20-year-old women were arrested for the apparent offenses of causing a disturbance, disturbing the peace, resisting lawful arrest and assaulting a member of the Police.

Subsequently, they were taken to the Police Station of Ayia Napa, where they were accused in writing of the above offenses (as well as the offense of theft of property) and were released, to be summoned before a Court later.
