The largest football academy tournament in the Mediterranean is being organized in Ayia Napa this year as well, with thousands of children as guests.
The Festival is organized by the Soccer World Cyprus Association under the auspices of the Municipality of Ayia Napa and the KOP, a major sponsor is the KOA, an institutional supporter is the KOA and a television partner is Cytavision.
A press release from the organizers states that "for another year Ayia Napa will host thousands of children and spectators in the academy football tournament that has become an institution for almost two decades. The deadline for submitting applications for participation in the Festival expires on February 20 and the teams that will not register until that date, will not be eligible to participate in the tournament ".
The director of the event, Christos Konstantinou, called on the "teams to register in time" in order to facilitate the better organization of the tournament and added that "this year, more than 5 thousand young football players are expected in Ayia Napa" from different countries.
The press release adds that "there is a great demand for participation in the Lions categories for the ages from 2007 to 2012, in which there is a limited number of places and order of priority will be observed. Teams wishing to participate in the Lions categories are invited to register as soon as possible ".
There is also increased interest "for the age category 2012, so the organizers decided to create a Lions category for the first time in this category.
