Karousos: "Up to 50% reduction in the Russian market" (VIDEO)

The problems of tourism that arise during the new tourist season were commented by the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Giannis Karousos.

Giannis Karousos stated that there is a drop for the Russian market that reaches up to 50% for large agents.

The reasons, as he said, are:

  1. Opening important and cheap destinations such as Turkey and Egypt,
  2. The value of the Russian currency after the ruble has lost significant value against the euro.
  3. The fact that Cyprus did not take advantage of the circumstances when other neighboring destinations had problems

He even noted that our country has failed to maintain the new tourist flow that visited it at the same time due to many chronic problems of tourism with its main noise pollution.

He expressed hope that the Ministry of Tourism would soon be set up, which will have the capacity and responsibility to solve these problems as tourism is an important part of our economy that contributes more than two and a half billion euros a year.
