The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Ireland Sean O Ferghail, and a delegation of the Parliament as well as the Ambassador of Ireland to Cyprus Conor Long who accompanied them, were received yesterday, Wednesday 8 June, by the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Jean.
The President and a delegation of the Parliament are paying an official visit to Cyprus these days.
The Mayor of Ayia Napa welcomed them with great pleasure at the Municipal Museum "Thalassa". During the tour, which was conducted by the Director of the Museum and Municipal Secretary of the Municipality Fotos Kikillos, the Mayor was informed about Ayia Napa, its history, sights, cultural landmarks, the projects that have been implemented and what is planned to be done as well as the fact that the Museum "Sea" was ranked 8th World in a Cultural Forum held in Ireland in 2008.
The meeting also highlighted the strong ties between Ayia Napa and Ireland in terms of the tourism industry, stressing that it is no coincidence that Ayia Napa has remained a popular tourist destination for the Irish for decades.
