Last night, Prince Charles likened the famous British resorts of Margate and Southend to the popular destination of Ayia Napa during his meeting with the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis at Buckingham Palace.

Prince Charles hosted the President of the Republic of Cyprus and the First Lady at Buckingham Palace on Monday night at an honorary event organized by the Palace, within the Commonwealth, entitled "Celebration for Cyprus".

As Prince Charles put it: “I was told that some old Anglo-Cypriot communities had settled in Southend and Margate. As far as I can tell, it's the closest they could get to Ayia Napa. " After the cheerful remark, he mentioned to Nikos Anastasiadis: "I am glad that I understood the joke".

The whole event describes in Yesterday's Daily Mail article titled "Charles compares Southend and Margate to Ayia Napa at the UK-Cyprus holiday celebration" ("Charles compares Southend to Ayia Napa as he celebrates UK-Cyprus relations").
