The Government Spokesman made a statement on the case of the British citizen who is being tried before the Famagusta District Court.

«The Republic of Cyprus, as a coordinated state, has constitutionally enshrined institutions and separation of powers.

In this context, the Government does not intervene in cases adjudicated by the competent Courts of the Republic of Cyprus, nor does it comment on positions or allegations that are put forward in relation to cases pending before the Courts.

The Government has full confidence in the judiciary and the Courts of the Republic of Cyprus, which should be left undisturbed to apply the laws of the state and to administer justice.

The executive branch, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus, will take its decisions after the completion of the court proceedings. "
