Only with solemn eulogies in the local temples, the province of Famagusta and the rest of Cyprus will celebrate today, October 28th. Due to the measures to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus, student or military parades will not take place and therefore the Municipalities and Communities will be content with festive eulogies, speeches and trishagia inside the holy temples.
Paralimni
In the Municipality of Paralimni, the Festive Doxology will be performed at the Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios, officiated by the Metropolitan of Constantia-Famagusta Vassilios. The Government will initially be represented by the Minister of Defense Charalambos Petridis, but due to his mandatory self-restraint after contact with a confirmed case, although the result of his examination is negative, he will be replaced by the Director of the Office of the President of the Republic. The solemnity of the day will be delivered by the former Principal of Secondary Schools, Chrystalla Koutsofta. will be followed by a trishagio and the laying of wreaths at the Heroes' Monument (wreaths will be laid only by the host Municipality, the official guest, the local authorities, the Church, the schools of Paralimni and the Security Forces)
Αγία Νάπα
With Doxology in the Church of Panagia Ayia Napa where the Festive of the Day will be delivered by the Coordinator of the Open School of Ayia Napa Mrs. Christiana Christofi, the Municipality of Ayia Napa will celebrate the National Anniversary of October 28, 1940.
Sotira
In the Municipality of Sotiras the Festive Doxology will be performed at 8:30 a.m. at the Holy Temple of the Transfiguration. The solemnity of the day will be delivered by the Member of Parliament for Famagusta, Mr. George Georgiou. A trishagio and the laying of wreaths at the Monument of the Fallen and Missing Savior will follow. Instead of wreaths, contributions will be made for the needs of the Committee of Relatives of the Fallen and Missing Savior. Wreaths will be laid only by the host Municipality, the official guest, the local authorities, the Church of the Savior, the Savior Schools, the Committee of Relatives of the Fallen and Missing Savior and the Security Forces. All the necessary measures for the treatment of the Coronavirus will be observed COVID-19 based on the protocols and decrees of the Ministry of Health.
It is pointed out that doxologies and trisha for the 28th of October will be performed in the other communities of the province of Famagusta.
