All the big events of the Municipality of Deryneia that were planned for this year were canceled, including the Strawberry Festival.
A written announcement states that "the Municipality of Deryneia, acting with full awareness of the situation created by the coronavirus pandemic, informs the public that all major events scheduled for the spring months have been canceled."
It is added that "on Shrove Monday, March 15, since gathering in nature is not allowed, by the current Decrees of the Ministry of Health, to deal with the pandemic, actions have been taken with the Peace Force and access to the chapel of Agia Marina will be allowed inside the dead zone for walk and pilgrimage from 08: 00-16: 30 ".
Also, the Pancyprian Strawberry Festival, which was scheduled for May, will not take place this year either, while if conditions allow, it will be scheduled for 2022.
According to the announcement, "as soon as the epidemiological conditions allow, the opening ceremony and the opening of the open-air cinema will be planned in collaboration with the Italian Embassy, the artist Rosa Barba and the" Point Center for Contemporary Art ".
The Municipality of Deryneia "hopes that during the summer months it will be possible to host in the Municipal Amphitheater several cultural events both from the Cultural Ensembles of the Municipality and from other Organized Ensembles".
