DERYNEA: The national memorial service of Dimitrakis Christodoulou was held

The national memorial service of the heroes of the 1955-59 EOKA National Liberation Struggle, Dimitrakis Christodoulou and his co-combatants, Stylianos Lena and Sotiris Tsangaris, was held on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the Holy Church of All Saints in Deryneia.

The memorial service was presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios of Constantia-Ammochosto.

Present were the Mayor of Deryneia, Andros Karagiannis, the Mayor of Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis, and the Candidate for the European Elections, Michalis Chatzipantelas.

Famagusta Member of Parliament, DISY Vice President Mr. Giorgos Karoullas said in his memorial speech that "we honor and learn from the hero Dimitrakis Christodoulou from Deryneia, through his nationalistic and orthodox traits he developed a model of pioneering, continuous struggle and sacrifice for Cyprus and the her freedom".
