The inauguration of the new building of the Deryneia Police Station done this morning the Minister of Justice and Public Order, in the presence of the leadership of the Police, Church and State Officials, as well as a large number of people.
The relocation of the specific police station, with an area of responsibility of 72 square kilometers and 25,000 inhabitants, is part of the broader framework of reorganization of the Police, with the aim of further improving the working conditions and well-being of the police officers as well as the services provided to citizens.
As mentioned in the greeting addressed by the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Mrs. Stefi Drakou, "the improvement of the Police infrastructure contributes to the realization of one of the most basic goals that we have set in our priorities, the building of a more humane person and a stable relationship respect and trust between the police and society, which we need".
The Chief of Police, Mr. Stelios Papatheodorou, thanking the Municipality of Deryneia for granting the building, stated that "the creation of a new building of modern specifications has been achieved, which meets the needs and requirements of our time and which is expected to substantially upgrade the level provision of police services".
For his part, the Mayor of Deryneia, Mr. Andros Karagiannis, thanked everyone who contributed to the relocation of the Station and stated that "for the residents of critical areas, the safety and security we feel due to the presence of the Police Force, is a top priority, since it revives our morale to stay in our place of origin and our roots".
The Deryneia Police Station polices the municipalities of Deryneia and Sotiras (outside the area of Agia Thekla), Frenaros, the refugee settlement of Ag. Georgiou Acheritou, Vrysoulla Acheritou settlement and Strovilia.
