With the central slogan "We are all Famagusta - We are all Kyrenia" citizens from all cities responded today to the call of the "Isaac - Solomos Memorial Initiative" and marched to the occupied roadblock of Deryneia.
On the occasion of the Turkish provocation in the besieged city of Famagusta, the goal of the motorcyclists, who started with pre-assemblies from all the cities of free Cyprus, is to return to the agenda the slogan "All refugees in their homes".
Participants are also offered a white t-shirt with the central motto of the event. It is stated that party or fan insignia will not be accepted by the Isaac-Solomou Memorial Initiative.
Shortly after 18:00, hundreds of motorcyclists from all the cities of free Cyprus arrived at the occupied roadblock.
For their part, the organizers had made it clear early on that, like all their events, this one will take place peacefully and will protect both the community of Deryneia and the participants in the demonstration.
Besides, at the roadblock of Deryneia, the measures are draconian, while from early on, the Police set up railings at every point from which one can cross to and from the occupied areas.
The presence of peacekeeping forces inside the dead zone is strong, while an MMAD squad is located near the National Guard post as a deterrent force.
The monument returns
The simple monument created by the motorcyclists in memory of Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomos was re-erected on the site. He was removed under intense pressure and, according to organizers, was relocated only for the night of the event.
