The Deryneia roadblock closes tonight for three hours

A nationwide protest against the roadblocks starts today at 6 pm from the Deryneia roadblock. Following the protest that took place on Friday, October 19, at the Deryneia roadblock, where hundreds of people expressed their reaction to the opening of the new roadblocks and the existence of the remaining roadblocks, the protests were closed by the intensify and will continue until the end of January, when the closure of a roadblock across Cyprus is scheduled every Sunday.

According to the organizer, Angelos Kyriakou, nephew of the hero Solomos Solomos, the event is a cross-party spontaneous initiative whose main goal is to provoke the reaction of the majority of Greek Cypriots to the existence of roadblocks, which, according to him, borders ”and officially recognize the division and as is the motto of the initiative“ Preserve the conqueror ”. Also, according to the announcement of the initiative, "The protest is made to to protect society from the imported death of drugs and other illegal products as well as to protect local businesses from the unfair competition of the occupiers ”.

The roadblocks will be closed every Sunday from 6 pm and the program is as follows:
