Quarrels and stabbings between foreigners, resulting in the slight injury of a Pakistani from an Indian, occurred with the change of the new year in Deryneia.
According to the Police around 01.50 in the early hours of January 1, 2020, a 30-year-old Indian, for an unknown reason, had a verbal argument with a 31-year-old Pakistani woman, in the apartment where they live in Deryneia, resulting in the first to pull from the hair the second and beat it.
The woman left the apartment terrified while the Indian called her and threatened to kill her if she returned to the apartment.
The 31-year-old called her 30-year-old Pakistani cousin, who also lives in the apartment in Deryneia, but was absent at the time of the verbal altercation.
The Pakistani went up to the apartment with his cousin in order to calm down the Indian, however around 02.20 in the morning, the latter grabbed two kitchen knives and moved threateningly towards the woman shouting that he would kill her.
The Pakistani moved towards the Indian pushing him in an attempt to prevent him from attacking the woman, resulting in the latter injuring him with kitchen knives in various parts of his body.
The Pakistani, bleeding, went to the TAEP of the General Hospital of Famagusta, where after being examined by the doctor on duty, it was found that he had bruises on his right cheek, neck, scalp and back. After the wounds were sutured, he was discharged.
Doctors also examined the Pakistani and found that she had small and mild abrasions on her left hand and mild redness on her scalp.
Shortly after 12 noon yesterday, the Indian was arrested on a warrant and detained, while the offenses of stabbing, assault and causing real bodily harm and threat are being investigated against him.
Today, before the District Court of Famagusta, the Police proceeded to register a case against the Indian.
The case is being examined by the Famagusta Police Department.
