An illegal bird trapping area, equipped with 7 large nets, was spotted and dismantled by a team from the Bird Slaughter Commission (CABS) in the occupied territories during the last operation of its autumn campaign.
According to an announcement by CABS, on a patrol in the areas of Frenaros and Deryneia on the night of September 10, the team located a sound-imitating bird-catching device which did not come from the free areas of the Republic of Cyprus and the dead zone, but from the occupied areas. the roadblock and managed to locate and remove the trap, it added.
More than 100 birds from 11 different species, including swallows, were trapped in the nets. The birds were released while the perpetrator was not located.
So far, 25 trapping sites have been identified. A total of 13 nets and 321 spears have been removed and destroyed. Six illegal vultures and 6 quails were also removed. CABS teams have already released a total of 31 birds since the start of their fall campaign.
